Smart QA Proficiency Testing Scheme - Improved for 2007!

As a result of our recent customer survey, Lab M are pleased to announce a series of improvements for the Smart QA proficiency testing scheme.

In response to customer requirements, we have now added Lactic acid bacteria and Listeria monocytogenes to the Standard Plus Mix and osmophilic yeasts to the Standard Mix. Furthermore, at the end of the year, participants will now be provided with an annual summary of results. These improvements are available from January 2007.

Smart QA now covers a total of 15 tests. These tests are as follows:

Standard Mix (monthly)
TVC, Enterobacteriaceae, Coliforms, E. coli, Yeasts & Moulds, Pseudomonas spp., Staphylococcus aureus

Standard Plus Mix (bimonthly, alternated with Pathogen Mix)
Bacillus cereus, Clostridium perfringens, Enterococci, Lactic acid bacteria, Listeria monocytogenes

Pathogen Mix (bimonthly, alternated with Standard Plus Mix)
Salmonella spp., Listeria spp., E.coli O157 (non-toxigenic)

23 August 2010 A leading cause of food-borne illness, Campylobacter has been much in the news this year, not least being the focus for the UK’s Food Safety Week in June, and also the subject of an international conference hosted by the country’s Food Standards Agency in July.
